Evaluation of our final media product

Evaluation of our final media product, this all three of our opinions on our final film.

Audio feedback for our final film

In lesson we watched each others films and explained what we liked and didn't like. The purpose of this was to improve for next time. We found out that people liked the story of our film and they liked the way it was directed. The audience did not know at first that Lewis' character was working for a secret service as we struggled because he does not look like an adult. This was something we struggled with before filming but after feedback we decided it was good enough.

Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product?

In our first preliminary task we were told to produce a short 1 minute film, the aim of this task was to get used to filming and editing simple footage. We used basic angle shots such as high and low angle shots we also used simple shot types such as medium shots and long shots, 1 shot we had to use was a a reverse zoom this shot is when you like at a piece of action and zoom away from it. We also learnt about the 180 degree rule for when 2 characters are having a conversation. We all learnt how to use the editing software, we also produced a small opening using black screens and text we called this rodeo productions.

In our final product we used all of these and more to produce a professional looking film. However we would have to improve on these skills for example a couple of shots in our preliminary task where not steady we fixed this problem by using a stand. We also for our final product still used the basic rules of filming like the 180 degree rule and the rule of thirds. We also tyred to be more creative with our shots we wanted to do this so that the audience wouldn't lose interest in the film. We have improved all of our skills from editing to shots such as medium shots. One skill we have improved the most is sound, we now add sound to the piece subtly. We experimented with transitions but we decided not to do anything fancy because it didn't look professional.

We used angled shots to show the power or weakness of a character, we also used a close ups to show the emotion of that character. Another shot we used was an establishing shot this is to show location of the action.

The first image is of a reverse zoom this shot was required to feature in the preliminary task.

The second is of a conversation between the two characters, it is a two shot.

The third shot is from the preliminary task is of Lewis walking up the stairs from a birds eye view.

The forth shot is from our final product it is of myself and Lewis running threw the woods.

The fifth shot is of me looking round the tree, it is a long shot because you can see all of me and Lewis.

The sixth and final shot is of me running up to the tree it is also a long shot as you can see all of me and the setting.

Overall I think that I have developed all of the skills necessary to making a professional looking film.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

This is David he is 17, David is just the age we aimed the film at we expect 15-30 year old to see our film therefore we had to make the film relevant to the age group this is reflected by the genre and the general theme of the film. David plays rugby and is always up for a thrill and would expect a film to be fast and full of action.

David's favourite films are action, his all time favourite is James Bond casino royale. He enjoys this film because of the chase scenes, we also had a chase scene as the main scetion of the start of the film.

David enjoys TV channels such as TMF 4music becasue he can relate to the music and programmes on this channel. We therefore felt it important to make the film relevent we achived by using music similar to the ones found on these channnels.

We feel that our film will attract audience members such as David, the music and genral theme to the film will attract him. The film is also quick starting so he wont get bored and will want to watch the rest of the film.
